India in

Crisis.

This emergency relief campaign has achieved its goal and closed.

We made a meaningful difference; together, we funded over $2 million in equipment and 300,000 vaccinations.

To all of those who supported our efforts, thank you!

Relief for India

India is reporting nearly 400,000 COVID cases and 3,500 deaths a day. These numbers are believed to significantly underestimate the actual infections and suffering and are still higher than any other country during its peak.

The health care infrastructure has collapsed under the pressure of the second coronavirus wave with an insidious new variant. Hospital beds are impossible to find. And oxygen supplies are scarce or nonexistent. And those who are least likely to receive lifesaving care are, as always, the poor. The sick are dying en masse.

The crisis is just unfolding. India has less than 100,000 intensive care beds and 50,000 ventilators. It is projected  that the country will need 340,000 beds and more than 700,000 ventilators by the middle of May.

The COVID crisis in India is a devastating setback for the entire world. As the new variant spreads to the surrounding countries, the cases are surging in Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. This is a global issue and India needs our support to survive this crisis. We must Unite with India.

Our immediate goal is to support the oxygen need by supplying:

  • 25 Ventilators. Mechanically helps pump oxygen into the body when a person can no longer breathe on their own.
    Total Cost - $250,000

  • 300 Oxygen Concentrators. Concentrates the oxygen from the air by selectively removing nitrogen to supply an oxygen-enriched product gas stream. Total Cost - $300,000

  • 100 BiPap Machines. Known as non-invasive ventilation providing positive pressure ventilation, helping to open the lungs with air pressure.
    Total Cost - $100,000

  • 1,000 Oxygen Cylinders. These are large metal cylinders designed to store oxygen and treat patients who do not need to be on a ventilator.
    Total Cost - $75,000

  • 500 Oxygen Regulators. The high-flow oxygen regulators are used to adjust and control the rate of oxygen flow. These devices provide for greater efficiency in the rate at which oxygen is delivered to the patient.
    Total Cost - $10,000

  • 5,000 Pulse Oximeters. Small sensors generally clipped to the finger, toe or earlobe that measure the oxygen saturation within an individual’s blood to determine whether they are getting enough oxygen into their bloodstream.
    Total Cost - $50,000

  • Deployable Oxygen Concentrator Systems (DOCS). Capable of producing 120 liters per minute of oxygen and generally used to fill large cylinders.
    Total Cost - $200,000

Our longer term goal is
to provide systemic aid in areas that are the most underserved.

  • Funding the establishment of oxygen generation plants in hospitals and COVID facility compounds through existing NGOs.

  • Vaccination. With immunization against COVID being made available for those 18 and above, the current need is to set up vaccine centers across the country. We are working to fund local government authorities, NGO partners, and private hospitals to set up these centers.
